FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

A collection of frequently asked questions and answers to help you with pre-sales, services and technical information.

WEBSITE DESIGN & DEVELOPMENT

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO DESIGN AND CREATE A WEBSITE?

This depends on the complexity of your website and the time-frame for which content is provided to us. A basic website generally takes about 3 to 4 weeks to complete if we have all the content for it.

CAN DIGITAL DREAMS ADD IMAGES TO MY WEBSITE IF I DON'T HAVE ANY?

Yes. We have a library of images available which we can use on your website.

WILL MY WEBSITE WORK ON SMARTPHONES AND MOBILE DEVICES?

Yes. All websites will work on mobile devices and smartphones. As an optional extra feature, we can also develop your website in such a way that it is enhanced on mobile devices and has a better look and feel suited to smaller screens.

CAN I UPDATE MY WEBSITE WHEN IT IS COMPLETE?

If you have a small website or wish to make changes to it infrequently, then it is generally more cost effective for us to make these changes for you. We can also set up a system so that you can easily edit parts of your website yourself at any time. Other than these two options, if you have the knowledge of HTML, PHP and CSS, we can provide you with direct access to the source code.

DOMAIN REGISTRATION & WEBSITE HOSTING

CAN DIGITAL DREAMS ORGANISE MY DOMAIN NAME REGISTRATION AND HOSTING SERVICE?

Yes. We can register your domain name and we can also set up your hosting account for your website and email.

WHERE WILL MY WEBSITE BE HOSTED?

Your website and email will be hosted within Australia in one of three datacentres in Sydney, Melbourne or Brisbane. Please let us know if you have a particular preference.

WHAT IF I AM ALREADY HOSTING MY WEBSITE SOMEWHERE ELSE?

As long as there are no compatibility issues, we will be able to help you move your website, domain and email over to our fast web servers within Australia.

TECHNICAL SUPPORT

I CANNOT RECEIVE ANY EMAILS. HOW DO I FIX IT?

First check to see if you are connected to the internet by searching for something on Google. If you are connected, try sending yourself an email, preferably from another computer or device to see if you receive it. You may also want to double check your mail server and login settings to make sure that they are correct. If you are still having issues, you should contact us for help.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN POP3 AND IMAP FOR EMAIL?

Without getting too technical, if using an IMAP account, all your emails will remain stored on the mail server. If you are using a POP3 account, then your emails are downloaded to your computer and deleted from the server. (You can choose the type of account within your email software.) Most commonly is to have your main computer set up as a POP3 account. If you have other devices to also check email, then you can set your main computer to leave a copy of emails on the server for a few days and then set up your additional devices as IMAP accounts. If you are unsure, use POP3.
